Approach

Healing involves embracing vulnerability and facing difficult parts of one’s self. Keeping this in mind, I strive to create a foundation of safety and mutual respect with my clients. My approach is relational – I aim to provide a warm, genuine environment to help people examine their struggles in the ‘here and now’. Together, we will examine how past experiences and unconscious emotions are contributing to current behaviors and beliefs. Working with me will involve unearthing core patterns that keep you entrenched in unhealthy behaviors, all while learning practical skills to start feeling better immediately.

I am trained in both psychodynamic therapy and EMDR. These two modalities are considered “deeper” treatments, which are geared towards accessing and healing the source of the problem rather than merely addressing symptoms.

Experience

I have provided therapy and assessment to children, adolescents, and adults
in counseling centers, hospitals, inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient clinics, and detention centers. I am a certified Prolonged Exposure therapist for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I have also conducted various forms of group therapy geared towards developing interpersonal awareness and healthy coping skills.

My experience is diverse, and ever growing. I have treated clients with longstanding relationship issues and trauma, as well as those with co-occurring medical disorders. Please see the Publications/CV tab to review my research, including health outcomes related to psychological factors, such resilience and quality of life. I am deeply interested in the intersections between psychology and Christianity.

Credentials

I am a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas (#38792). I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and completed my internship from the APA Accredited University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Following graduate school, I completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at Dallas Therapy Alliance.

Prior to attending UT-Southwestern, I studied and completed predoctoral research at Columbia University. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Tulane University.
